If you have never been to Frankenmuth and Bronners during the Christmas season, you need to add this destination to your bucket list. It can make even the Grinchiest in your house turn into a Christmas Elf!
Our family has gone to Frankenmuth every year during Christmas since the kids were babies, about 20 years now! I remember pushing them in strollers through the crowds, visiting Santa and many other traditions – such special memories.
We begin our day at Bronners, and trust me it is called a “Christmas Wonderland” for a reason! The trees are decorated beautifully, wreaths hanging, the holiday décor is everywhere your eyes land and Christmas music fills the air. It has been a tradition for us to buy the kids an ornament every year, but whether you purchase or browse you will see spectacular displays of Christmas.
On to the Riverwalk outdoor mall. We enjoy going here even more as the kids get older. More beautiful Christmas lights, music and Christmas carolers outside singing! We browse through a number of quaint stores and just enjoy some time being together. We then walk through the Christmas lit bridge to the strip of stores where Zehnders and The Bavarian Inn are located. Walking along this strip of old-fashioned stores makes you feel like you stepped back in time. The sound of jingle bells from the horses, people bustling around, Christmas music and lights and the aroma of the food is so nostalgic. We always eat at either Zehnders or The Bavarian Inn for the world famous chicken dinner! Santa and Mrs. Claus are usually by the fireplace visiting with children and families. After feasting on all the delicious food there are bakeries inside for decadent pastries and chocolates.
On to the horse and carriage ride! Once you step up into the carriage and snuggle under the blankets it is the coziest of atmospheres! As you ride through the town listening to the clickety-clap of the horse’s hooves, the bells jingling around their necks and Christmas music – you know are in a special place.
As you probably have gathered – I love Christmas! I hope you can visit Frankenmuth sometime as it is a true Winter Wonderland during Christmas. Thanks for listening to one of my traditions, I would love to hear about some of yours!
