As the temperatures heat up, so does my desire to make money. This summer, I am a Communications, Advertising and Public Relations intern for Farm Bureau Insurance. I’m up and working with the majority of the Midwest at 8:00 a.m., and my workday concludes at 4:30 p.m.
Many corporate offices, including the one I am working for, enforce a dress code. But I’m not complaining. It forces me to dress up and “try” – something I have definitely been slacking on for the past nine months!
This outfit was from the first day on my internship. It was comfortable, yet professional, and worked perfectly with the mid-60’s weather Michigan was experiencing.
A simple black pencil skirt was the starting piece. This one is from Maurices and it hits about mid thigh, but hugs me in all the right places.
I paired it with a silky purple tank top-blouse, which is from Maurices. The cardigan is ALSO Maurices (no, I promise this is not an ad – but Maurices is my go-to place for work clothing!). I paired everything with black gladiator sandals, my signature bracelets and a side braid (I was getting my hair re-done that night, so I just wanted to hide my grown out roots as much as possible).
My makeup is done using the Naked original palette (three colors used: Virgin, Sidecar and Naked). I used an ELF bronzer on my cheekbones, winged my eyeliner and finished off with a coat of mascara, leaving my lips natural.
